Eric is on the ball! We signed the contract on Friday, and the house was painted on Saturday. Yesterday and today the new HVAC unit went in, the new roof went on and three walls have been knocked out of the house! The decision making process is a bit hectic, but we’re thankful and look forward to seeing the evolution of it all.
We’re not going to post a pic of the outside until it’s complete, but I will give you a sneak peek of the color for fun. It will have chocolate brown shutters and steps, and white windows/trim/etc.
Also, you’ll see in the pics below that several walls have come down! Most everywhere you see the studs, those area will be open and the studs gone.
(the cute 1950s built-ins are not our style, but Eric & Chel will use them in their new house!)
(the door will be on the right hand side now and there will be a wall here… the master bedroom which we’ll use as an office)
(the door to the right of the white cabinets will be filled in as a wall for new cabinets and the studs seen will all be open to the dining/living area… so kind of like a large “L” shape)
More to come!
We are new homeowners!
We’re so excited and thankful for our 1956 home!
It’s a fixer-upper for sure, and we’re working with one of our best friends and the best contractor in town (shout out to Eric!) to fix it up in the next 6-8 weeks. Just a few things that will be changed: new A/C unit/thermostat, hot water heater, roof, windows, electrical box updated, exterior/interior paint, vinyl, bathrooms (vanity/tub/mirrors), three walls knocked out, sheetrock, kitchen, light fixtures, all flooring, landscaping, etc. We hope to update it to a “retro modern” look. It needs alot of love! 🙂
We closed this morning and will begin the project tomorrow with Exterior paint. Yay!
Many of you have asked about the house and wanted to see it, so I thought we would post before, during and after photos for you to check out. Here are a few to start out with:
